Introduction
This on-campus, 3 year full-time course is offered on the GJ-IMT campus through the Department of Information Technology.
The MCA aims to provide an introduction to research training in the hardware and software streams through the preparation, execution and presentation of an in-depth, supervised project complemented by coursework research skills study.
Admission & Prerequisites
Candidates desirous of admissions in MBA & MCA programme at GJ-IMT have to undertake a written entrance examination, Management Entrance Examination (MET), the information for which is published by the PTU in the national and regional dailies. The meritorious candidates who have applied for MCA, on the basis of their score in the written examination, are required to appear for counselling.

The counselling schedule for MBA & MCA admissions for the selected candidates is published in MET prospectus & the revised schedule (if any) is advertised in the leading newspapers.

The applicant has to bring with him/her the necessary certificates & the counselling fee as determined by the University. Candidate needs to be vigilant about the admission/counselling schedule fixed by PTU.

Course Objectives
The objectives of the MCA are to:

introduce students to research methods relevant to contemporary Information technology practices;
foster the student's capacity for critical thinking, analysis and reflection through the formation and testing of theoretical and practical propositions in real-life like projects and trainings;
develop the student's technical and aesthetic abilities so that ideas can be confidently expressed;
enhance the student's prospects for a career in fields such as software development, networking, web applications, database management and academic and vocational teaching positions; and provide access to higher degrees by research programs.

Career Outcomes
Graduates from the MCA find employment in a variety of positions within the software and hardware centred professions. Students who specialise in system programming, networking, embedded systems, web applications, database management and allied streams can make a mark in the wide spectrum of oportunities presented by demanding area of Information technology.

Computer and Information Technology being the order of the day, the MCA course gives an in-depth training to all aspirants in this field.
